...Working with young people aged 12-18years old. Issues include anxiety, self-esteem, self-harm, suicidal ideation, low mood, interpersonal issues, school, sexuality and trauma.
As a Trauma Informed Therapist other areas I specialise in are: Self-Esteem, Childhood abuse, Co-dependency, Stress & Anxiety Management, Grief & Loss, Relationship Difficulties and Depression.
My background is in trauma and person centred counselling and psychotherapy and I draw on a range of therapeutic techniques.
The healing I offer is tailored specifically to each person. During our consultation appointment I will explain how I work so that you will be able to make an informed choice before we move forward together. This is also an opportunity to talk about what has brought you to therapy, your therapy needs and how best I can support you.
We will review our work together as we journey forward making sure your needs continue to be met.
When you are feeling emotionally overwhelmed, stressed and anxious it can be a lonely and isolating place. Psychotherapy/ Counselling can help. Psychotherapy offers an opportunity to understand yourself in-depth in relation to the past, present and future, and to find healthy ways to manage your mental health. Some issues take longer to resolve so the duration will vary from person to person.
Where your issues might be current or recent I offer Brief Solution Focused Counselling over 6-12 sessions. This approach can help in supporting you to manage your emotions and develop coping mechanisms that may increase your resilience.
My approach is warm, collaborative, holistic and creative. I offer a comfortable space, will listen to you with empathy and understanding. If I feel it is beneficial to you, I will gently challenge you in certain areas to promote your growth, progress and healing.
In my therapy room all thoughts and feelings are welcome. Whilst therapy can bring up to the surface pain and discomfort to be healed and released, it can also be a place for a lot of laughter and joy, and I work to offer a relationship that can hold space for the wholeness of you.
Counselling is available in person at my Newtownabbey office, online and by phone.
Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) which means 'universal life energy', is a Japanese energy healing technique which activates the natural healing processes in the body.
Receiving a Reiki treatment is very simple. This can be done lying down or sitting. It's important that you feel comfortable and relaxed. There is no need to remove any clothing as Reiki will pass through these. I will then gently place my hands above the body or on the body (non-intrusively), depending on your preference, in a sequence of positions which cover the whole body. A typical session will last 50 minutes.
Reiki offers a plethora of psychological, physiological and energetic benefits.
Psychologically, it induces a deep state of relaxation, reducing stress, anxiety and promoting mental clarity and emotional balance.
Physiologically, Reiki promotes the body's natural healing processes by enhancing circulation, reducing blood pressure and supporting the immune system.
Energetically, it balances the body's natural centres, known as Chakras, promoting a harmonious flow of energy throughout the body, which can lead to overall well-being.
My treatment room in Newtownabbey is a tranquil space where you will feel relaxed and at ease. You will leave with a restored sense of health and well-being.
Yoga Therapy is the specific application of yoga tools - postures, breathwork, meditation, and more - to address your physical, mental, and emotional needs.
The initial session includes an assessment to identify your specific concerns, and subsequent sessions will consist of yoga postures tailored to help you reach your goals, and empower you towards self healing.
During a session it is common to experience emotions while holding yoga poses. We will explore whatever arises and work to uncover what lies beneath, enabling you to integrate your thoughts and feelings in a holistic way.
This in-person service is available in Newtownabbey and north Belfast area.
