The Five C’s of Counselling;
Counselling provides a safe and confidential space to deal with personal life issues.
My responsibilities include; Listen and understand you and your concerns. Help you to identify what you need from therapy and set goals if applicable. And assisting you to reach those goals by using your strengths and resources.
Your responsibilities include; Being as open and honest as possible. Setting realistic goals if applicable. And working to achieve those goals.
Confidentiality - Not telling others what you tell me. However I cannot keep our conversation just between us, if you are a danger to yourself or others. Should confidentiality need to be broken for whatever reason, this will be done with your knowledge.
Caring - I will endeavour to provide the best possible therapy. I will do my best to ensure that you are fully informed about the methods used to help and support you. My style of therapy is Humanistic, Person-Centred and Integrative. This means I use a range of therapy orientations in my practice such as, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused and Creative Art Therapy. This ensures that therapy is tailor-made to suit each individual.
Cost – An Assessment appointment lasts for 50 minutes and is £50/€60.This is to be paid for in advance and is non-refundable. Additional sessions can be 30 minutes at £30/€40 or 50 minutes at £50/€60. This can be paid in advance via bank transfer, PayPal, or by cash on the appointment day. Telephone and video sessions are also available. Missed or sessions cancelled within 48 hours are chargeable in full. Usually appointments are on a weekly basis. To get the full benefit from therapy it is important that you attend each scheduled session.
Collaboration - Therapy works best when we both believe that we can really work together. If you have any questions or concerns about me or about what you are doing, please tell me. While I want to help, in some cases I may not be the best Therapist for you. If this is the case, I will assist you in finding another professional helper. As is required of all Therapists, I keep brief case notes, and work with an accredited Supervisor. At no point will I reveal your identity.
As all sessions are by appointment, it is important to arrive on time (physically/virtually), as I may have a client in before you and also may not be able to go over the allotted time. The commitment to therapy means that both Therapist and Client have a responsibility to see the process through to its conclusion, which is unique to each particular relationship. This means in practice that finishing therapy is something that should be discussed and negotiate.
